How iqtify collects, uses, and protects your information.

Who operates iqtify
iqtify is a personal educational project run by an independent developer. For questions or concerns, email Iqtify.com@gmail.com.
What information we collect
Information you provide
- Optional account: If you create an account, we collect your email address and store a hashed version of your password. You can use iqtify without an account.
- Profile information: If you add a name or "about you" note to a profile, we store it.
- Your answers: We store the questions you answer, your responses, and your progress across topics and skills.
- Practice and quiz results: We keep your ratings per concept, practice ability levels, XP, companion growth, and goal progress.
Information collected automatically
- Browser identifier: A random ID stored in a cookie identifies your browser. This lets you return to your progress without creating an account.
- Session cookie: After you sign in or start using iqtify, we issue a session cookie (HttpOnly, Secure) that expires 30 days after it is issued.
- IP address: Like any website, our server sees your IP address. We use it for rate limiting (to prevent abuse), and it appears in the server's request logs. We do not store it with your learning profile.
- Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics, which collects anonymous page views without cookies or personal identifiers.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: Your answers and progress are used to adapt question difficulty, identify weak areas, and show your learning history.
- To improve the product: Anonymized usage patterns help us understand which features work well.
- AI grading (when applicable): Some questions may be generated by an AI model, and your written answers to those questions may be sent to the model for grading. Currently, the system uses OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini. Bank questions (the hand-written ones) are graded offline without AI.
How we protect your information
- Passwords are hashed with scrypt before storage and cannot be reversed.
- Session cookies are HttpOnly and Secure (when served over HTTPS).
- The database is backed up daily; the most recent 14 backups are retained for recovery.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
Data retention
- Your learning data (with or without an account): Kept until you ask us to delete it. Inactive data is not yet deleted automatically.
- Server logs: Overwritten automatically as new logs arrive, usually within a few weeks.
- Database backups: The last 14 daily backups are kept. We also take occasional snapshots before updates to the site, which are kept longer.
When we delete your data from the live database, it leaves the daily backups within 14 days. If you ask, we also remove it from older update snapshots.
Your rights
- Access and export: Use Download my data on the You page to get a copy of your data as a file. You can also email Iqtify.com@gmail.com.
- Deletion: Use Delete my data on the You page to delete this browser's profile, or, if you are signed in, your account and every profile on it, with all learning history. It happens immediately. You can also email Iqtify.com@gmail.com; we will respond within 30 days.
- Revoke sessions: Signing out ends your current session. The operator can revoke specific sessions on request.
Children's privacy
Accounts are for adults (16 and over). A child may use iqtify only through a kid profile added by an adult in their own browser or account. Kid profiles added on the site never ask for an email address or a sign-in. A child's own sign-in can only be set up by the operator directly, never through the site.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use after a change means you accept the new policy.
